Dernièrement, j’ai retrouvé des enveloppes reçues par Magenta il y a de nombreuses années.

 À ce moment-là, il était courant de décorer les enveloppes… avec des étampes évidemment. 

En voici quelques unes qui sont particulièrement jolies ou amusantes. 

Certaines de ces boutiques n’existent plus malheureusement, mais ce sont de bons souvenirs. 

Au fait, cela portait un nom: Mail Art.

The other day, I found envelopes received by Magenta many years ago. 

At that time, it was common to decorate the envelopes… with stamps obviously. 

Here are a few that are particularly attractive or amusing. 

Some of these shops unfortunately no longer exist, but all are good memories.

By the way, it was called Mail Art.

Voici les plus anciennes, de 1994, adressées au tout premier bâtiment de Magenta,

 la rue Ste-Anne (dont j'ai parlé dans le blog consacré à notre chatte-mascotte Roxane-le-Cat).

Here are the oldest ones, sent in 1994 to the first Magenta location, Ste.Anne street 

(I have mentionned this place previously in the blog about our Roxane-le-Cat)

Les bordures de fleurs (N.0101) sont embossées en doré étincellant et coloriées de marqueur.
Flower borders (N.0101) are embossed with gold tinsel and colored with markers.

Celle-ci insiste sur l'importance du recyclage en collant un papier sur une enveloppe déjà utilisée.
This one promotes the importance of recycling by pasting a piece of paper with new address over an already used envelope.

J'avais presque oublié qu'à une époque on avait une boîte postale à St.Albans pour faciliter le commerce avec les États-Unis.
I had almost forgotten that at one time we had a mail box in St.Albans to facilitate business with the United States.

J'ai mis les deux faces de celle-ci car elle est faite du pliage d'une très grande page entièrement décorée à l'effigie du magazine Rubberstamp Madness.
I put both sides of this one because it is made of a large page folded, all about the Rubberstamp Madness magazine.

Celle-ci date de 1996, adressée au deuxième bâtiment occupé par Magenta.
This one was sent to the second Magenta location, in 1996.

Toutes les cartes suivantes datent de 1998, l'époque où Magenta a réellement commencée à faire parler d'elle mondialement.

All following cards are from 1998, the period when Magenta started to be really known internationnaly.

Centre de table festif - Festive Table Centerpiece

En cherchant des idées pour ce blog,

 j’ai remis la main sur deux photos que j’ai prise il y a quelques années. 

Il s’agit d’éléments pour un décor de table de fêtes de fin d’années que j’avais proposé pour un livre.

Le projet se trouve donc détaillé aux pages 86-87 du livre de mon amie Leslie Carola, 

“Year-Round Paper Crafts”, 

publié par Arena Books Accociates, LLC en 2010.

Je mets la photo de la couverture pour vous aider à le trouver. 

Il renferme plein d’idées pour des cartes et des décors ou objets 

associés aux différentes saisons et fêtes. 

In seeking ideas for this blog, 

I put hands on two photos that I took a few years ago. 

These are elements for a table setting for Christmas and New year I proposed for a book.

This project is detailed in pages 86-87 of the book of my friend Leslie Carola, 

"Year-Round Paper Crafts" 

published by Arena Accociates Books, LLC in 2010.

I put the photo of the cover to help you find this book. 

It contains many ideas for cards and decorations or objects 

related with the four seasons and their holidays.

La couronne de poinsettias est formée d’assemblages comprenant trois fleurs (1 grande et 2 petites) 

étampées, découpées, recourbées et collées en superposition. 

Pour une couronne assez grande, prévoir une bonne douzaine d’assemblage de fleurs, 

soit 12 grandes et 24 petites, étampées sur diverses couleurs de papier décoratif 

(ici des tons de bleu foncé, bleu gris et ochre).

The poinsettia wreath is formed with three flowers (1 large and 2 small) 

stamped, cut, bent and glued overlay. 

For a fairly large crown, provide a good 12 trios of flowers, 

so 12 large and 24 small, stamped on various colors of decorative paper 

(here shades of dark blue, gray blue and ocher).

On peut également se servir d’un assemblage pour décorer un verre à vin, 

ou les poser sur les serviettes de table.

Trios of flowers can also be used to decorate wine glasses or to be placed on napkins.

Le flocon de carton aggloméré est coloré avec de l’encre métallique argentée 

(encre à l’alcool “Metallic Mixative”) et d’un point de Stickles rouge.

A piece of white cardstock is also colored with blue ink, than stamped with the flourish stamp in the same blue. 

Chipboard snowflake is colored with Metallic Mixative (alcohol ink) and a red Stickles dot.

Motif de houx étampé en bleu sur la carte et rehaussé de Stickles une fois la carte assemblée.

Le fond a une base faite à la technique fantôme – d’abord la répétition d’un motif de poinsettia étampé en pigment blanc, 

recouvert entièrement de pigment dans les tons de vert. 

L’excès de pigment est essuyé avec un essui-tout pour mieux dévoiler les images. 

Motif de houx et texte étampés en vert plus foncé (pas nécessairement avec du pigment).

 Rehaussé de marqueur argenté.

Image stamped with permanent black ink on glossy cardstock. 

Colored with Tombow markers and Distress inks applied with a wet paintbrush 

(for better result, applied markers and/or ink pads on a palette, then pick color with the brush). 

The background is made with a ghost technique – first a is stamped repeatedly with white pigment ink on the white cardstock. 

Then covered with green tones of pigment. 

Use a paper towel to remove the excess of pigment and reveal the stamped images. 

Holly image and text are stamped in dark green (not necessarily pigment ink). 

Enhanced with silver marker.
