Anniversaire en hiver / Winter birthday

 Le fond de cette carte a été fait avec des encres à l’alcool appliquées en gouttes sur un feutre, 

diluées légèrement avec de la solution spéciale (Blending Solution). 

L’applicateur feutre est ensuite tamponné sur le papier cartonné blanc, en ajoutant du diluant si nécessaire 

pour couvrir le papier – plus ou moins densément, au goût.

L’oiseau est étampé en bleu foncé sur papier blanc et colorié aux crayons de couleur. 

Le texte est étampé en violet.

Pour ceux dont l’anniversaire est en hiver, bon anniversaire!

The background of this card was made with alcohol inks applied in drops on a felt,

 slightly diluted with the Blending Solution. 

The felt applicator is then dabbed onto the white cardstock, adding Blending Solution 

as needed to cover the paper – more or less densely, as you like.

The bird is stamped in dark blue on white paper and colored in with colored pencils. 

Text is stamped in purple.

Chat patineur / Skating cat

J’ai tellement aimé patiner dans mon enfance. 

Et ce chat est absolument charmant!

Je l’ai étampé en noir sur un papier cartonné gris foncé. 

Puis, j’ai utilisé des crayons de couleur pour l’enjoliver. 

Le crayon blanc, en particulier, est essentiel pour donner de l’éclat 

à une scène plutôt sombre. 

J’ai choisi une carte ocre, assortie à la fourrure, que j’ai décorée d’un pochoir de flocons, à l’encre bleue. 

Puis j’ai ajouté une bordure en répétant une petite étampe de flocons, rehaussés de marqueur blanc. 

Le titre, étampé en noir sur papier cartonné blanc, est découpé et collé dans le coin, 

là encore pour éclairer la scène, tout comme le carton blanc séparant les deux parties foncées.

I liked skating so much as a kid. And this cat is absolutely charming!

I stamped it in black on a dark gray cardstock. 

Then I used colored pencils to spruce it up. 

White pencil, in particular, is essential for adding light to a rather dark scene.

I chose an ocher card, matching the fur, which I decorated with a snowflake stencil, in blue ink. 

Then I added a border by repeating a small stamp of snowflakes, enhanced with white marker. 

The title, stamped in black on white cardstock, is cut out and glued in the corner,

 again to light up the scene, as is the white cardstock separating the two dark parts.

 

Pingouin fantaisiste / Whimsical penguin

 Un pingouin avec une guirlande de fleurs, c’est pour le moins une bonne façon d’illustrer ce que dit le texte : 
si tu suis toutes les règles, tu vas manquer bien du plaisir…!

Et lorsque l’on réalise que les fleurs… sont les flocons étampés sur le fond de la carte… 

c’est un autre exemple de fantaisie.

Au départ tout est étampé en bleu, la fantaisie vient des couleurs ajoutées au crayon ou au marqueur, 

et du petit cordon. Bien sûr, il faut aussi aimer se servir de petits ciseaux 

pour découper toutes ces petites fleurs-flocons!

A penguin with a garland of flowers is, to say the least, a good way to illustrate

 what the text says: if you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun…!

And when you realize that the flowers… are the snowflakes stamped in the background of the card… 

that's another example of fantasy.

Initially everything is stamped in blue, the fun comes from the colors added with pencil or marker, 

and the little string. Of course, you also have to like using small scissors 

to cut out all these little flower-snowflakes!

Oiseau des neiges / Snow bird...

 Ce qui est amusant chez Magenta, c’est la diversité des images créées au fil des années. 

Autant j’aime les images plus classiques, victoriennes ou autres, 

autant je m’amuse avec des dessins plus fantaisistes comme celui-ci. 

Trois tons de bleus sont utilisés pour le fond de la carte. 

Un bleu ciel pour créer la structure du fond, afin de créer un genre de paysage. 

Un pochoir de Magenta est parfait pour ce résultat, avec ses diverses formes de collines. 

Le pochoir de flocons est encré avec un bleu un peu plus foncé, mais appliqué très légèrement, en douceur. 

Enfin, le plus foncé sert à étamper l’oiseau sur un papier cartonné blanc, autant qu’à étamper le texte et les petits flocons. 

Des crayons de couleur et un peu de Stickles rehaussent l’oiseau (bien laisser sécher). 

Il est découpé en laissant un petit tour blanc et collé en relief, en diagonale.

One nice thing about Magenta is the diversity of the images created over the years. 

As much as I like more classic images, Victorian or otherwise, 

I also have fun with more whimsical designs like this one.

Three shades of blue are used for the background. 

A sky blue for the structure of this background, to create a kind of landscape. 

A Magenta stencil is perfect for this result with its various hills shapes. T

he snowflake stencil is inked with a little darker blue, but applied very lightly, smoothly. 

Finally, the darker is for stamping the bird on white cardstock, 

as well as stamping text and small snowflakes. 

Colored pencils and a little Stickles enhance the bird (let it dry well). 

It is cut out, leaving a small white border and glued in relief, diagonally.

Mon pays c'est l'hiver / My country is winter

 Un paysage d’hiver tout simple, étampé en bleu foncé sur un papier cartonné bleu miroitant 

(pas d’encre à pigment, ça ne sécherait pas). 

Deux couleurs de crayon sont utilisées : du brun et du blanc, pour légèrement colorier les faons et le décor. 

Le blanc est aussi ajouté ici et là pour évoquer la neige au sol. 

Le texte est étampé en noir. 

Des marqueurs noir et blanc sont également utilisés pour certains détails.

A winter landscape, is stamped in dark blue onto shimmering blue cardstock 

(no pigment ink, it would not dry out). 

Two pencil colors are used: brown and white, to lightly color the fawns and the decor. 

White is also added here and there for the snow on the ground. 

The text is stamped in black. 

Black and white markers are also used for some details.

Paix, santé et bonheur / Peace, health and happiness

 En ce début d'année, mon oiseau joyeux vient vous souhaite tout l'espoir 

d'un retour à une vie plus normale au plus vite.

Il est tout simplement étampé en noir sur papier aquarelle 

et colorié aux marqueurs Tombow dilués avec un pinceau mouillé. 

Les fleurs de papier sont faites avec des emporte-pièce 

ou roulées comme du quilling.
