À la tombée du jour / After the sunset

 

Encore une fois j’ai fait un paysage sur un fond fait d’encres à l’alcool. 

Ce genre de tracé me plait bien en ce qu’il représente bien l’horizon, lorsque se confondent eau et ciel.

Les deux étampes sont imprimées en noir - le plus encrées possible.

Un peu de crayon de couleur rehausse certaines parties de cette composition.

Again I made a landscape on a background made of alcohol inks. 

I like this kind of coloring because it represents the horizon well, when water and sky merge.

Both stamps are printed in black - as inked as possible. 

A bit of colored pencil enhances certain parts of this composition.

Quelque part dans le monde un oiseau chante pour toi / Somewhere in the world a bird sings for you

 

Cette silhouette d’oiseau sur un fil, dont les bulles évoquent le chant a été étampée 

sur un fond fait d’encres à l’alcool appliquées en lignes sur un applicateur feutre,

 pour tracer des lignes horizontales sur un papier cartonné blanc. 

Pour renforcer l’idée du chant, et donc des bulles, j’en ai ajoutées au pochoir. 

Du crayon bleu très foncé est ajouté sur l’oiseau et ici et là.

Le texte est évidemment approprié: « quelque part dans le monde un oiseau chante pour toi ». 

Ce que je souhaite à chacun de vous!

This silhouette of a bird on a wire, whose bubbles evoke singing, was stamped on a background made of alcohol inks 

applied in lines on a felt applicator, to trace horizontal lines on a white cardstock.

 To reinforce the idea of singing, and therefore bubbles, I added some more with a stencil. 

Very dark blue pencil is added to the bird and here and there. 

The text is obviously appropriate: "Somewhere in the world a bird sings for you".

 What I wish for each of you!

Oiseau au bord de l'eau / Bird at the water's edge

 

Des encres à l’alcool dans les tons de bleus et de mauves sont versées en lignes sur un applicateur feutre, 

diluées avec de la solution spéciale Blending Solution et appliqués en lignes horizontales sur du papier cartonné blanc. 

Lorsque je fais ce genre de fonds, j’ai parfois du mal à choisir entre le dessus et son verso. 

Ici c’est le verso, plus pâle, plus inégal, qui correspond mieux à l’idée d’eau et de ciel. 

L’oiseau et son reflet s’intègre bien dans ce résultat (une fois bien sec). 

Et une délicate branche complète la composition. 

Oiseau et branche sont rehaussés de crayon de couleur. 

Et pour l’oiseau, également de marqueurs blanc et noir. 

Alcohol inks in shades of blues and mauves are dropped in lines on a felt applicator, 

diluted with Blending Solution and applied in horizontal lines on white cardstock.

 When I make this kind of background, I sometimes have a hard time choosing between the top and its back. 

Here it is the back, paler, more uneven, which corresponds better to the idea of water and sky. 

The bird and its reflection fits well in this result (once dry). 

And a delicate branch completes the composition. 

Bird and branch are enhanced with colored pencil. 

And for the bird, also white and black markers.

La fille aux oiseaux 2 / The bird girl 2

 

De retour avec une autre carte faite avec le même genre d’éléments qu’il y a quelques temps. 

Cette fois, le fond de la carte, toujours aux encres à l’alcool, m’a fait penser à un coucher de soleil, d’où l’envie de créer un paysage. 

Et cette fois encore, j’ai ajouté du crayon de couleur sur le motif de la jeune fille aux oiseaux. 

J’étais presque satisfaite, mais il manquait une petite touche de mystère. 

J’ai donc eu l’idée d’ajouter ces cercles de fleurs au pochoir. 

Et j’ai dessiné, très finement, en noir, quelques mini fleurs de plus. J

’aurais pu en mettre partout en suivant le cercle de fleurs, mais je me suis arrêtée là. 

J’avais peur que cela soit trop rigide, pas assez magique.

Back with another card made with similar elements as a while ago. 

This time, the background of the card, still in alcohol inks, made me think of a sunset, hence the desire to create a landscape. 

And this time again, I added colored pencil on the pattern of the girl with the birds. 

I was almost satisfied, but it lacked a little touch of mystery. 

So I had the idea to add these flower circles with a stencil. 

And I drew, very finely, in black, a few more mini flowers. 

I could have put it everywhere following the circle of flowers, but I stopped there.

 I was afraid it would be too rigid, not magical enough.

La fille aux oiseaux 1 / The bird girl 1

Sur un fond d’encres à l’alcool étalées en lignes horizontales sur papier cartonné régulier, 
j’ai étampé plusieurs éléments à l’encre noire permanente. 
J’aime bien cette étampe de jeune fille aux petits oiseaux, dessinée pour Magenta par l’artiste Tita Lopez. 
J’ai simplement ajouté un peu de crayon de couleur pour nuancer les motifs, 
tout en gardant cette atmosphère de crépuscule.

On a background of alcohol inks spread in horizontal lines on regular cardstock, 

I stamped several elements with permanent black ink. 

I really like this stamp of a young girl with little birds, designed for Magenta by the artist Tita Lopez. 

I simply added a bit of colored pencil to nuance the patterns, while keeping this twilight atmosphere.

Coucher de soleil en fleurs / Blooming sunset

 

Sur un papier cartonné régulier j’ai appliqué des encres à l’alcool en lignes. 

Une fois bien sec, j’ai étampé le motif de fleurs que j’ai rehaussé de crayons de couleur. 

Puis j’ai ajouté du détail au fond, à l’aide des deux pochoirs, en retraçant certains traits au fin marqueur noir, 

et en ajouté des points et losanges au marqueur blanc.

On a regular cardstock I applied alcohol inks in lines. 

Once dry, I stamped the flower pattern that I enhanced with colored pencils. 

Then I added detail to the background, using the two stencils, tracing certain lines with a fine black marker, 

and added dots and diamonds with a white marker.

Fleur ensoleillée / Sunny flower

 

Sur un fond d’encres à l’alcool très pâles appliquées en lignes sur papier glacé (Kromekote), 

j’ai étampé en vert le grand motif de fleurs (attendre que ce soit bien sec avant d’étamper). 

Je l’ai légèrement retouché de noir à l’aide d’un marqueur particulièrement fin. 

La grande fleur est faite de la plus petite des fleurs du duo de pochoirs (masques),

 coloriée d’encre orangée et rehaussée de crayons de couleur assortis.

J’ai choisi de faire un montage un peu différent en collant les éléments de manière à ce que la fleur ne cache pas trop le motif vert. 

Le bandeau de texte est en diagonale pour la même raison. 

Des spirales et lignes noires tracées au marqueur un peu moins fin sont finalement ajoutées.

On a background of very pale alcohol inks applied in lines on glossy paper (Kromekote), 

I stamped the large flower motif in green (wait until perfectly dry before to stamp). 

I touched it up slightly with a particularly fine black marker. 

The large flower is made from the smaller of the flowers in the duo of stencils (masks), 

colored in orange ink and enhanced with matching colored pencils.

I chose to make a slightly different layout by gluing the elements 

so that the flower does not hide the green pattern too much. 

The text banner is diagonal for the same reason. 

Spirals and black lines drawn with a little less fine marker are finally added.

Fleur gribouilli / Doodle flower

 

Sur un papier glacé (Kromekote) j’ai appliqué des lignes d’encres à l’alcool. 

Une fois bien sec, j’ai étampé la fleur 3 fois, rehaussée de marqueurs Tombow dans les tons de mauve et de vert. 

Un peu de marqueur noir tracé en points ou spirales ici et là complètent le tout.

On a glossy paper (Kromekote) I applied lines of alcohol inks. 

Once dry, I stamped the flower 3 times, enhanced with Tombow markers in shades of mauve and green. 

A bit of black marker drawn in dots or spirals here and there completes the whole thing.

Les fleurs roses / The pink flowers

 

J’ai d’abord mis en couleur un carton de papier glacé (Kromekote) avec des encres à l’alcool. 

Une fois bien sec, j’ai tracé en mauve le pochoir de fleurs. 

Puis j’ai étampé deux fois le motif de fleurs et feuilles à l’encre permanente noire.

 J’ai ajouté des couleurs aux Tombow ici et là, ainsi que tracé de lignes ou des points au marqueur blanc. 

Comme il y avait un espace plus libre dans le coin supérieur droit, je pensais y ajouter un texte, 

mais finalement j’ai jugé plus amusant de coller ces deux fleurs qui me restaient

 d’un autre projet: étampées sur papier blanc régulier et mise en couleur aux crayons, 

puis découpées, pétales légèrement recourbés.

I first colored a glossy paper (Kromekote) with alcohol inks. 

Once dry, I traced the flower stencil in purple. 

Then I stamped the flower and leaf design twice with permanent black ink. 

I added colors with Tombow markers here and there, as well as drawing lines or dots with a white marker. 

Since there was more free space in the upper right corner, I was thinking of adding some text there, 

but in the end I thought it was more fun to paste these two flowers that I had left over 

from another project: stamped on regular white paper and put in color with pencils, 

then cut out, slightly curved petals.

Harmonie en mauve / Purple harmony

 

En fouillant dans un tiroir où se trouvent plein de projets plus ou moins abandonnés, 

j’ai retrouvé ces 4 bordures de papier glacé que j’avais coloriées d’encres à l’alcool, 

puis tracé un motif au pochoir, rehaussé de fin marqueur noir. 

Je les trouvais jolies, mais je n’avais pas su quoi faire avec et j’ai fini par décider de les coller sur un papier contrastant. 

Puis, comme ce n’était pas encore tout à fait à mon idée, j’ai pensé y ajouter un motif 

que j’ai étampé en mauve sur un cercle de papier cartonné blanc. 

J’ai légèrement colorié le contour en brossant un peu d’encre grise. 

Puis, comme il manquait encore quelque chose, j’ai étampé un texte 

que j’ai collé sur un papier mauve, puis placé en diagonale. 

Et voilà, je ne penserai plus à mes lisières, elles sont enfin utilisées!

While rummaging in a drawer where there are lots of more or less abandoned projects, 

I found these 4 pieces of glossy paper that I had colored with alcohol inks, 

then traced a stencil pattern, enhanced with fine marker black.

I thought they were pretty, but I hadn't known what to do with them and ended up deciding to stick them on a contrasting paper. 

Then, since it wasn't quite my idea yet, I thought of adding a design that I stamped in purple on a circle of white cardstock. 

I lightly colored the outline by brushing in some gray ink. 

Then, as something was still missing, I stamped a text that I stuck on purple paper, then placed diagonally. 

There you go, I won't think about my 4 paper pieces anymore, they are finally used!

Le Père Noël approche! / Here comes Santa Claus!

 

On y est presque, le Père Noël fera sans tournée dans très peu de temps! Avez-vous été sages?

Ces deux cartes sont faites en versant un peu d’encres à l’alcool et de Blending Solution sur un tapis de bricolage, puis en appliquant du papier glacé (glacé vers l’encre) et en faisant faire diverses rotations au papier pour que la couleur forme une jolie tache sur le papier.

La maison est ensuite étampée en noir et légèrement coloriée avec des marqueurs, dont un blanc pour la neige.

We're almost there, Santa Claus will be making his rounds in a very short time! Have you been good?

These two cards are made by pouring a little alcohol inks and Blending Solution onto a craft sheet, then applying glossy paper (gloss towards the ink) and rotating the paper variously so that the color forms a nice spot on the paper.

The house is then stamped in black and lightly colored with markers, including a white for snow.

Village hivernal / Winter village

 

Voici deux cartes semblables dont l’effet si différent provient de ce que la première est faite sur le côté où j’ai appliqué des encres à l’alcool bleues et du Blending Solution, alors que l’autre est sur l’envers. Dans ce second cas on voit que l’encre a traversé le papier beaucoup plus sur les contours, alors qu’ailleurs il y très peu de couleur qui est passée. Il est toujours intéressant de déterminer lequel des côtés est le plus approprié au projet.

Pour le reste, village et flocons sont étampés en noir, du marqueur est ajouté ici et là - dont du marqueur blanc sur le paysage plus bleuté pour représenter la neige.

Here are two similar cards whose effect is so different because the first is made on the side where I applied blue alcohol inks and Blending Solution, while the other is on the reverse. In this second case we see that the ink has crossed the paper much more on the contours, while elsewhere there is very little color that has passed. It is always interesting to determine which of the sides is the most suitable for the project.

Couronne de poinsettias / Poinsettia wreath

 

Encore un fond d’encres à l’alcool sur lequel, une fois bien sec, j’ai étampé le motif de couronne aux poinsettias en vert foncé. 

Dans la même couleur d’encre j’ai étampé une bordure avec le petit motif de baies. 

J’ai légèrement retracé les poinsettias de crayon vert foncé, blanc et de marqueur noir.

Sur un papier cartonné colorié également d’encres à l’alcool, mais rouges, 

j’ai étampé le motif de poinsettia, 6 fois, pour découper chaque fleur. 

J’ai rehaussé celles-ci de marqueur doré et de crayon rouge. 

Du Stickles est ensuite ajouté dans les coeurs une fois la carte assemblée.

Another alcohol ink background on which, once dry, I stamped the poinsettia wreath pattern in dark green. 

In the same ink color I stamped a border with the small berry pattern. 

I lightly traced the poinsettias with dark green pencil, white and black marker.

On a cardstock also colored with alcohol inks, but red, 

I stamped the poinsettia design, 6 times, to cut out each flower. 

I enhanced these with gold marker and red pencil. 

Stickles were added to the hearts once the card is assembled.

Couronne de Noël / Christmas wreath

 

Ces deux cartes sont faites sur le même principe: un fond d’encres à l’alcool appliqué en faisant tournoyer (à partir du centre vers l’extérieur) l’applicateur feutre sur lequel sont mises les couleurs choisies et pas mal de Blending Solution. Cette technique est aussi intéressante sur papier glacé que sur papier cartonné régulier, le résultat diffère un peu car elles glissent mieux sur le glacé.

La couronne est ensuite étampée, lorsque les encres sont bien sèches. Elle est décorée de marqueurs métalliques et de Liquid Pearls.

Le petit texte amusant est parfait comme dimension, et il existe autant en anglais qu’en français!

These two cards are made on with the same technique: a background of alcohol inks applied by swirling (from the center outwards) the felt applicator on which are put the chosen colors and a lot of Blending Solution . This technique is as interesting on glossy paper as on regular cardstock, the result differs a little because they glide better on the glossy.

The wreath is then stamped, when the inks are completely dry. It is decorated with metallic markers and Liquid Pearls.

The fun little text is the perfect size, and it exists in both English and French!

Paysage hivernal / Winter scene

 

J’aime les images qui évoquent les Noëls traditionnels, l’atmosphère magique de l’hiver au Québec, enneigé et bleuté. Voilà pourquoi j’ai créé ce paysage à l’endos d’un fond fait d’encres à l’alcool, qui comporte une zone plus blanche que l’endroit et représente bien la neige au sol.

Cette étampe de sapins est déjà faite pour représenter des arbres enneigés, mais l’effet en est renforcé par l’ajout de pâte relief que j’ai versée dans une bouteille à petit bec pour l’appliquer avec plus de précision que le tube le ferait.

Une branche de houx décorative ajoute une touche festive au montage. Le tout est rehaussé de crayon de couleur.

I like images that evoke traditional Christmases, the magical atmosphere of winter in Quebec, snowy and bluish. That's why I created this landscape on the back of a background made of alcohol inks, which has a whiter area that represents well the snow on the ground.

This fir tree stamp is already made to represent snow-covered trees, but the effect is reinforced by the addition of relief paste that I poured into a bottle with a small spout to apply more accurately than the tube would do.

A decorative holly branch adds a festive touch to the arrangement. Everything is enhanced with colored pencil.

Voici le côté du papier sur lequel j'avais appliqué les encres à l'alcool, pour vous donner l'idée de la différence d'intensité des couleurs - et l'utilité de la présence du blanc car mes encres n'ont pas traversé autant le papier dans le bas, elles commençaient à être plus sèches sur le feutre applicateur (encres et Blending Solution au départ). Vous remarquerez aussi la diagonale plus sombre sur le côté droit... mon erreur, je faisais plusieurs fonds en même temps et j'en ai posé un chevauchant partiellement celui-ci avant qu'il soit entièrement sec...

Here is the side of the paper on which I had applied the alcohol inks, to give you an idea of the difference in color intensity - and the usefulness of the presence of the white because my inks did not cross as much through the paper at the bottom, they began to be drier on the applicator felt (inks and Blending Solution at the start). You will also notice the darker diagonal on the right side... my mistake, I was doing several backgrounds at the same time and I put one partially overlapping this one before it was completely dry...

Le joli sapin de Noël / The pretty Christmas tree

 Sur un fond délicatement picoté d’encres à l’alcool, j’ai étampé ce motif de sapin.

 Je l’ai rehaussé de crayon de couleur, de marqueurs, de Glossy Accents, 

et j’ai tracé quelques lignes pour structurer la composition.

On a background delicately dotted with alcohol inks, I stamped this fir tree pattern. 

I enhanced it with colored pencil, markers, Glossy Accents, and drew a few lines

 to structure the composition.

Héron en silhouette / Heron silhouette

 

Je poursuis dans ma série de cartes faites avec des fonds d’encres à l’alcool. 

Cette fois, c’est un héron que j’ai eu envie de mettre en valeur sur ce fond dont,

 une fois encore, j’utilise l’envers pour profiter de tout ce blanc. 

Pour y mettre un peu de fantaisie, j’ai ajouté un pochoir de feuillage, retracé de marqueur noir.

I continue in my series of cards made with alcohol ink backgrounds. 

This time, it's a heron that I wanted to highlight on this background which, once again, 

I returned to use its back, to take advantage of all this white. 

To add a bit of fantasy, I added a foliage stencil, traced with black marker.

Oies du Canada en bleu / Canada geese in blue

Pour faire suite à mon article de jeudi dernier, voici une composition très semblable à la précédente, 

mais dont l’atmosphère est très différente grâce aux tons de bleu des encres à l'alcool appliquées sur le papier cartonné blanc.

To follow up on my article from last Thursday, here is a composition very similar to the previous one, 

but with a very different atmosphere thanks to the shades of blue of the alcohol inks applied on white cardstock. 

Oies du Canada au coucher du soleil / Canada geese at sunset

 

J’ai fait toute une série de fonds de cartes avec mes encres à l’alcool, me permettant de créer plusieurs cartes lorsque j’en ai l’inspiration. 

Ici, mes couleurs évoquant un coucher de soleil sur de l’eau, il était tout naturel - et de saison - de faire un paysage d’oies sauvages.

Encore une fois, j’ai dû choisir sur quel côté de mon carton encré travailler. 

C’est souvent l’envers qui l’emporte, ayant plus de blanc, donc plus de luminosité à apporter à la composition.

I've done a whole series of card backgrounds with my alcohol inks, allowing me to create multiple cards when the inspiration strikes. 

Here, my colors evoking a sunset over water, it was only natural - and in season - to make a landscape of wild geese.

Again, I had to choose which side of my inked cardstock to work on. 

It is often the reverse that wins, having more white, therefore more luminosity to bring to the composition.

Paysage d'automne / Fall landscape

 

C’est l’automne, les paysages se transforment, les arbres perdent leurs feuilles, les oiseaux se regroupent…

 toute une saison et son atmosphère en quelques étampes Magenta, sur fond d'encres à l'alcool.

It's autumn, the landscapes are changing, the trees are losing their leaves, the birds are gathering together... 

a whole season and its atmosphere in a few Magenta stamps on a background of alcohol inks.
