Panier de fleurs victorien / Victorian flower basket

 J’ai retrouvé cette carte faite il y a des années avec un bouquet victorien que j’aime toujours autant. 

Il a été étampé en noir sur papier cartonné beige, mis en couleur aux crayons.

 L’originalité de ce montage vient de ce que le rectangle de carton au complet 

a été couvert de colle à embosser et poudre transparentes, chauffé, laissé refroidir, 

puis recouvert de colle et poudre… 2-3 fois de plus. 

Cela donne l’impression d’être en face d’une tuile de céramique, surtout après un certain temps 

car l’embossage a tendance à craqueler plus ou moins.

I found this card made years ago with a Victorian bouquet that I still love so much. 

It was stamped in black on beige cardstock, colored with pencils. 

The originality of this card comes from the fact that the entire rectangle of cardstock 

was covered with clear embossing ink and powder, heated, left to cool, 

then covered with ink and powder… 2-3 more times. 

It gives the impression of being in front of a ceramic tile, especially after a while

 because the embossing tends to crack more or less.

La partie d'échec / The chess game

J’ai d’abord colorié un fond d’encres à l’alcool bleues appliquées avec un feutre sur un papier glacé, 

en utilisant un peu de solution spéciale (Blending Solution) pour les diluer. 

Une fois bien sec, j’ai colorié en bleu plus soutenu un motif de pochoir qui m’a fait penser à un échiquier. 

Puis, j’ai étampé en bleu foncé quelques fois cet intéressant motif de pièces d’échec. 

Que j’ai également étampé 2 fois sur un papier cartonné blanc, pour les mettre en couleur 

aux crayons bleus et blanc, et marqueur noir, et que j’ai découpés. 

Trois pièces sont collées en relief sur le fond préparé. 

Le texte est étampé en bleu sur un morceau de papier cartonné blanc découpé en bannière. 

Une fine lisière bleue, un peu de crayon bleu et 3 attaches parisiennes complètent ce montage.

I first colored a background of blue alcohol inks applied with a felt applicator on glossy cardstock, 

using Blending Solution to dilute them. 

Once dry, I colored in a deeper blue a stencil pattern that reminded me of a chessboard. 

Then I stamped this interesting chess piece design in dark blue a few times.

 Which I also stamped twice on a white cardboard paper, to color them with blue and white pencils, 

and black marker, and which I cut out. 

Three pieces are glued in relief on the prepared background. 

Text is stamped in blue on a piece of banner shape white cardstock. 

A thin blue border, a little blue pencil and brads complete this layout. 

Bouquet de fleurs / Bouquet of flowers

 Parfois je fais des cartes comme celles-ci, en étampant sur un morceau de canevas (ici gris), 

car il est très agréable d’utiliser des crayons de couleur sur cette texture. 

Cela ne fonctionne qu’avec de bons crayons, comme les Prismacolor artistes qui sont mes préférés, 

certains crayons de couleur sont souvent trop secs pour créer de beaux ombrages. 

Sometimes I do cards like these, stamping on a piece of canvas (here gray),

 because it is very pleasant to use colored pencils on this texture. 

It only works with good pencils, like the Prismacolor artists which are my favorite 

– other colored pencils are often too dry to create nice shading.

Un message secret / A secret message

Une autre carte pour la Saint-Valentin, cette fois ce sont des moutons qui sont en amour. 

Étampés en bleu foncé, rehaussé de bleu plus clair au crayon, et d’une touche de rouge pour le cœur. 

Le texte est étampé en rouge, et le même crayon bleu sert à nuancer le fond du petit carton. 

Le tour est encré du même rouge. 

Lignes et mini cœurs sont tracés au marqueur bleu foncé – et un peu de crayon bleu pour les lignes. 

Une bordure de cœurs en washi tape et un montage un peu différent complètent le tout.

Another card for Valentine's Day, this time it's sheep that are in love. 

Stamped in dark blue, enhanced with lighter blue pencil, and a touch of red for the heart. 

The text is stamped in dark red, and the same blue pencil is used to shade the background of the small cardstock. 

The edge is inked with the same red. 

Lines and mini hearts are drawn with a dark blue marker – and a little blue pencil for the lines. 

A border of washi tape hearts and a little different layout complete the card.

A similar Magenta stamp exists in English: "Let me tell you a secret... I love you".

 

En amour / In love

Avec la Saint-Valentin qui approche, c’est le temps de faire des cartes pour les amoureux. 

Celle-ci ne peut pas être plus simple : ces deux ours adorables, sont étampés en noir 

et rehaussés de crayon et marqueur blanc et de quelques touches indigo et noir.

 Puis de l’aquarelle iridescente est appliquée en gouttelettes pour donner l’illusion de flocons de neige.

Le texte en anglais dit très joliment: 

"Si les baisers étaient des flocons, je t'enverrais un blizzard".

With Valentine's Day approaching, it's time to make cards for lovers. 

This one couldn't be simpler: these two adorable bears are stamped in black 

and colored with white pencil and marker and a little indigo and black touches.

 Then iridescent watercolor is applied in droplets to give the illusion of snowflakes.

 

Collage

Il y a longtemps que j’aime ce type de montage : décorer de longues lisières de papier cartonné 

de plusieurs couleurs et largeurs, en les étampant de toutes sortes de motifs. 

Ici, ils sont surtout étampés en noir, mais certains sont étampés en doré (pas très visibles au scan), 

ou encore rehaussés de crayons de couleur ou de marqueurs.

Pour coller ces lisières, le plus simple reste de couvrir un carton d’adhésif double face 

et de placer ensuite une lisière à la fois, en trimant l’excédent sur la longueur.

I have liked this type of layout for a long time: decorating long strips of cardstock

 in several colors and widths, stamping them with all kinds of designs. 

Here, they are mostly stamped in black, but some are stamped in gold (not much visible on this scan), 

or even enhanced with colored pencils or markers.

To glue these strips, the easiest way is to cover a piece of cardboard with double-sided tape 

and then place one strip at a time, trimming the excess along the length.

 

Famille d'oiseaux / Bird family

 Toujours dans ma série de cartes hivernales, voici une charmante famille d’oiseaux, bien serrés les uns contre les autres. 
Mis en couleur aux crayons. Le motif abstrait de ce pochoir, appliqué en bleu pâle,

 m’a fait penser à des glaçons suspendus aux toitures ou aux branches.

In my series of winter cards, here is a charming family of birds, tight against each other. 

Colored with pencils. The abstract pattern of this stencil, applied in pale blue,

 made me think of icicles hanging from roofs or branches.
